Mark has worked in the world of Financial Services all his life, that’s a very long time, recently completing his 35th year in the sector. Although experiencing all areas of financial services Mark soon decided mortgages were his bag and having worked at the Halifax Building Society, he then took up a role as a Mortgage Broker with Reeds Rains. He then went on to manage the Financial Services division of Hunters Estate Agents for 10 years. He thoroughly enjoyed his time there, before joining forces with Chris, to establish Fenton Simpson Financial Services in 2003. Over the years Mark has been through various ‘moments’ in the financial world and through this has built a vast knowledge of the Financial Services sector. The customer is at the fore front of everything Fenton Simpson are involved with, and it is through a high level of customer satisfaction that their reputation has been built.

Mark has always lived in York and shares 4 children with his partner. He enjoys sport of most denominations, especially golf and spending time with his family.

Chris
Director / Mortgage Adviser

Chris started working in the Financial Services industry at the Halifax Building Society way back in 1984. He then had a number of roles within General Accident Property Services before transferring to CGU Financial Services, which went on to become part of Aviva plc. After a short stint with Hunters Estate Agents, Chris joined forces with Mark Fenton and Fenton Simpson Financial Services was established in 2003. Having worked with thousands of homeowners and landlords he has enormous experience to call on in an ever-changing landscape in the Mortgage and Property sectors. Customer service is very much to the forefront for everything Fenton Simpson try to achieve.

Chris lives with his wife and daughter in York and in his spare time, likes to attend as many courses as he can, Golf that is.

Debbie
Operations Manager

Debbie has worked in Financial Services all her working life. She started her career as a Bank Clerk and over the years progressed to the position of National Account Manager, managing a team of consultants. More recently she held the position of Head of Facilities for a large corporate company. Debbie, Chris & Mark grew up in the same neighbourhood and during her time as an Account Manager Debbie developed a working relationship with Fenton Simpson. We were very pleased to welcome her onboard as Operations Manager when the opportunity arose in January 2020.

When Debbie is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and socialising with her friends. Debbie has spent many years ‘on the touchline’ supporting her sons and grandsons football teams, and she is now on her 2nd stint as Treasurer of York’s largest junior football club.

Will
Protection Manager

Will has over 10 years’ experience within Financial Services, with the early part of his career working for one of the UK’s largest Building Societies. He began as a Customer Service Advisor, progressing to a senior Branch Manager. In 2019, Will joined Fenton Simpson as a Protection Adviser. During his time here, Will has shown he is very passionate about protecting our clients and has become an integral part of the team. In 2022, Will was promoted to Protection Manager. Will takes pride in providing his clients with the very best service, always going the extra mile. His new role also includes providing support to the other Advisers in the team as well as ensuring our client’s journey is as smooth as possible.

In his spare time Will likes to watch football and enjoys a trip abroad with his wife.

In 2014, Annabel joined Fenton Simpson as a Mortgage Administrator. Through her enthusiasm for customer service, the role has developed and she is now proud to manage the Customer Support Team. Annabel loves speaking to new clients, understanding their needs and providing them with the support they need to begin their mortgage journey with Fenton Simpson. She has a wealth of knowledge and has established many client relationships over the years.

In her spare time, Annabel can be found running around York with her Cockapoo Bruce, sweating it out at the gym or throwing herself up mountains in the Lake District.

Catherine
Mortgage Adviser

Catherine joined Fenton Simpson in September 2020 after working for a High Street Bank for over 20 years, so has plenty of experience in the financial and mortgage industry. Catherine loves the freedom of being a broker and not being tied to one lender, she finds this really helpful when getting the best solutions for her clients. What Catherine enjoys the most is building relationships with her clients and helping them both initially and then throughout their mortgage lifetime offering comprehensive reviews at pivotal times.

In her spare time Catherine enjoys keeping active and walking the legs off her little dog, Dexter. She also enjoys camping with her family and socialising with her friends.

Simon
Mortgage Adviser

Simon’s Financial Services experience spans 40 years and started with Barclays Bank eventually becoming a Business Manager and later with Bank of Scotland as a Commercial Lending Manager. In 2004 he set up a Mortgage Brokerage specialising in Commercial and Buy to Let Mortgages and began advising on Residential Mortgages in 2006. He joined Fenton Simpson Financial Services in 2016. Simon has pretty much seen it all and got several t-shirts when it comes to mortgages, and he tries to use that knowledge and experience to help his clients achieve their goals. Whether you are a First Time Buyer or an experienced portfolio landlord Simon loves to help.

Simon’s 2 kids have grown and flown so he now dotes on his rescue dog, Bailey. Based in both York and Malton Simon’s passions outside work are Leeds United and long walks on Yorkshire beaches.

Mortgage Adviser

After 26 years working as a printer Rich wanted a new challenge so he took a change of tack and trained as a Mortgage Adviser. Having passed his CeMAP exams in 2017 Rich started working as a Mortgage Adviser with Fenton Simpson. In 2020 Fenton Simpson opened up the new Scarborough office where Rich spends most of his time, looking after clients up and down the East Coast along with his existing clients in and around York.

Whether it’s helping first time buyers purchase their first property, looking after property portfolios for experienced landlords, or just chatting through a general enquiry, Rich will go the extra mile to help every client with their specific needs. He understands the importance of customer care, so he will always answer calls and reply to emails in a timely manner as he knows there is nothing worse than not being able to speak to someone when you really need them.

Rich enjoys the outdoors, so is often out walking or running somewhere around Scarborough. Also enjoys meals out with the family, and the odd game of golf.

Mortgage Adviser

Hannah worked within the property industry for years, starting out as an Estate Agent in York then becoming a mortgage adviser in 2019. In 2021, Hannah joined Fenton Simpson and has made it her mission to help make the buying process as stress free as possible. She has made it her mission to help first time buyers to get on the property ladder and to suss out the local and government schemes that can help. Having a lot of knowledge on Shared ownership, Discount for sale and changing government help available.

Hannah lives in York and with her little girl. They enjoying going on new adventures with family and friends.

Matty started his career at Yorkshire Bank as Mortgage adviser and remained there for 8 years. In September 2020, Matty joined Fenton Simpson, where he has continued to provide Mortgage advice for clients. He has a great knowledge of the local area and has some great local connections, allowing him to ensure the homebuying process is a smooth as possible for his clients. He is always happy to assist clients with their queries no matter how complex the case may be.

When Matt isn’t working, he spends time with his wife and their son. Matt also enjoys playing a round of golf and it’s not too much of a surprise that his son now does too!

Protection Manager

Protection Adviser

In 1983 Elaine began her career in Financial Services, working for Burnley Building Society which then became Abbey National Building Society. This then became Santander, where Elaine managed two branches in the York area. She ended her time with bank after 20 years of service to move on to work for Hunters Estates agents as a Mortgage Adviser. Elaine joined the Fenton Simpson team in March 2007 as a Mortgage & Protection Adviser. After some time, Elaine decided she wanted to concentrate more on client’s protection needs. Elaine takes pride in her work and ensures that all clients have the best possible advice, should the worst happen.

Elaine’s loves to go on holiday with her husband and spend quality time with her family. She also has a very mischievous cat called Buster.

Samantha
Trainee Protection Adviser

Sam moved to York in 2016 & and began working in Financial Services shortly afterwards. Whilst working for one of the UK’s largest Building Societies, Sam had the opportunity to gain experience in many aspects of the Financial world. The area that Sam became most passionate about was helping Families to have suitable Life Insurance and Protection provisions. In February 2020, Sam joined the Fenton Simpson Family as a Protection Administrator. Utilising and building on her previous skills, her role was to support the Protection Team who advise our clients on their Life Insurance, Critical Illness & Income Protection needs. Sam has also supported the Business in other areas including our Home Insurance offering. With Sam assisting our Protection Advisers, it wasn’t long before she knew that she wanted to become a Protection Adviser herself. In July 2022, Sam was promoted to a Trainee Protection Adviser, an opportunity that Sam has grabbed with both hands.

When she isn’t working, Sam loves going on holiday in the sun with her husband. Sam also has a passion for photography & design.

Senior Customer Support Administrator

Andy joined Fenton Simpson in 2013 as a Mortgage Administrator and has recently celebrated his tenth year with us. Having also worked for a major Building Society for many years, Andy has years of customer service experience. He also brings a wealth of knowledge about Financial Services and is always happy to share this with the team. Andy enjoys being presented with a complex mortgage case and he’s certainly equipped with the know-how.

When not working, Andy loves spending time at his holiday home in Lanzarote, riding his BMW motorbike around North Yorkshire and being with his family, including his Granddaughter, Daisy.

Sue joined Fenton Simpson in 2007 and has been here ever since, you could almost say that she’s part of the furniture now. During her time at here, Sue has supported Fenton Simpson in various roles and has built a vast knowledge of Financial Services. Sue is a very integral part of the Customer Support Team and we rely on her to keep us in check. She puts clients at the heart of everything she does and will aways go the extra mile.

Sue has two daughters and seven grandchildren (ranging from 9 years to 20 years) which keeps her very busy in her spare time. Sue is also renowned for socialising. If you want to know if a restaurant or pub is worth going to – Ask Sue.

Angie joined the Fenton Simpson team in March 2020. She has a background working in Financial Services and brough a wealth of knowledge along with her. She takes pride in her work and always goes the extra mile to support the broker and the client to ensure the mortgage process is as straightforward as possible.

Angie, originally from Bradford, moved to York with her husband in 2019. Along with their dog George, they spend most weekends away, exploring in their campervan. Angie loves to cook and try out new recipes, and claims “she hasn’t killed anyone yet!”. She’s also, a huge cheese lover.

Laura joined Fenton Simpson in April 2015 as a Mortgage Administrator. She predominately supports Chris, with mortgage processing. She has a wealth of knowledge and is always happy to help. Laura has over 10 years of Customer Service experience and before working for us, spent some time working in corporate events. When she isn’t supporting Chris, she is tasked with arranging our social events.

Laura lives at home with her husband and three children. When Laura has free time, she likes to spend it keeping active. Laura also has a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing Management.

Liv joined Fenton Simpson in November 2021 and is constantly developing her knowledge of mortgage processing. She hopes to progress within Fenton Simpson and looks forward to what the future holds. Liv previously worked for an insurance company.

Out of Work, Liv enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Particularly hosting evenings at her flat, going on holidays and visiting local restaurants.

In May 2022, Jimmy joined Fenton Simpson to predominantly assist Mark with mortgage processing. He is enthusiastic and enjoys the variety that working at an independent broker brings instead of being limited to one lender. Jimmy has over 40 years’ experience in the Financial Sector, with 38 years working for NatWest Banking. Jimmy started with Natwest in 1982 undertaking various roles including Sales & Service Coach, Branch Manager and latterly Premier Banking Manager.

Jimmy has a passion for music & enjoys attending live concerts & gigs. He is also a keen sports fan and cites his teams as Leeds United and The New England Patriots. You may well also see him riding the tarmac on his Lush Longboard as skateboarding is another hobby.

Operations Support

Anna joined Fenton Simpson in 2019 to cover Maternity leave and settled in so well, that we decided to keep her. In 2017 Anna took a career break to renovate her home but before this, she worked in Financial Services. During her time within Financial Services, Anna developed a wealth of knowledge and skills. She brought these skills along with her which has allowed her to spend her working week between Mortgages & Operations.

In her spare time, she enjoys going to the gym, being outdoors and going for meals. You could even say she’s a bit of a foodie! Anna has two children, a French Bulldog called Betty and is currently looking for her next renovation property.
